Hey, who are the Bronsons ?

Il y a déjà un bon moment que je répète à corps et à cris que l’Angleterre est la patrie de la meilleure musique que je connaisse. Cela se vérifie encore aujourd’hui avec le groupe que je m’apprête à vous présenter. Ils s’appellent les Bronsons et sont originaires de Londres. Ils se sont formés en 1981 puis se sont séparés en 1985 pour renaître en 2013. Laissez-moi vous présenter les différents membres du groupe :

• Carlos aka Phil : Il est le batteur du groupe. Il joue sur tous les kits disponibles.

• Chas aka Tone : Il est un des membres originels du groupe. Il joue de la guitare (et les collectionne également) avec une préférence pour les Gibson Firebird associées à un ampli Orange.

• Georges aka Jorge : Il est d’origine espagnole. Il est venu vivre à Londres afin de poursuivre sa carrière professionnelle. En chemin, il a été pris par la « folie » Bronsons. Il joue avec une basse Fender Mustang MU, un Nordstand NM4 et une pédale MXR M87 compressor.

• Giselle : Elle est la nouvelle recrue du groupe, elle l’a rejoint en Novembre 2014.

• James aka Stefan : Il était le chanteur dans les années 80, il a choisi de jouer de l’harmonica lors de la reformation en 2013. Il évolue sur scène avec un micro ultimate 57 et un ampli Digitech RP 360 modelling/effect ainsi qu’avec un harmonica Sevdel Session Steel.

• Zara : Elle est devenue un Bronsonnette fin 2013, rejointe pour un temps par sa sœur Debbie. Elle a commencé ses performances live en Janvier 2014.

Ils ont un style assez blues qui est vraiment très agréable à écouter. Leurs influences sont aussi variées que cultes pour certains noms qui apparaissent comme les Beatles (groupe qui fait office de mètre étalon pour moi.), les Rolling Stones, Blondie, Ella Fitzgerald, The Pretenders, Ian Dury, Dusty Springfield, Thin Lizzy, Eddie’n the Hot Rods, Von Morisson, Screaming Jay Hawking, Jimi Hendrix, B.B King, Howlin’wolf, Eric Clapton, Led Zepplin, Jeff Beck et la liste est encore longue. C’est un groupe qui évolue avec de très bonnes références qui sont avant tout la base car le blues est la base du rock… J’aime beaucoup « High temperature » , cela me fait penser aux anciens albums d’Eric Clapton ou de B.B King. Je vous conseille aussi « Photo finish », elle envoie pas mal. James, le chanteur a la voix qui me fait penser encore une fois à celle d’Eric Clapton dans certaines intonations. Il a une présence scénique à la fois dynamique mais aussi très cool. Je suis clairement orientée rock mais je vais volontiers faire une exception pour eux… Je dois assister à un de leur concert lors de mon prochain séjour à Londres. J’ai hâte de pouvoir entendre ce que cela donne en live. Je pense que je vais apprécier le moment !

For some time now, I have been shouting from the top of the mountains that England is the home-country of the best music I have ever heard! This has been more than confirmed today with the band that I’m about to introduce you to. They are The Bronsons and are originally from London. They formed in 1981 then split in 1985 to regroup in 2013. I’m going to introduce you to each member of the group.

• Carlos aka Phil : He’s the drummer. He plays on every kit available.

• Chas aka Tone : He’s one of the originals of the band. He plays guitar (he also collect them) with a strong preference for Gibson Firebird with Orange amp.

• Georges aka Jorge : He’s Spanish but he came to London to follow his professional career. In his way, he was seduced by the Bronsons ‘madness’. He plays with a Fender Mustang MU, a Nordstand NM4 and MXR M87 pedal compressor.

• Giselle : She’s the new recruit of the band, she came in November 2014.

• James aka Stefan : He was the singer in the 80’s, he chose to play harmonica when they regrouped. On stage, he uses a Ultimate 57 microphone, a Digitech RP 360 modelling / effect amp and a Sevdel session steel harmonica.

• Zara : She became a Bronsonette at the end of 2013, joined for a time by her sister Debbie. She started her live performances in January 2014.

They have got a blues’ style which is very good to listen to. Their influences are as varied as they are cult, for some of these nameswhich appear are : the Beatles ( who are the standard benchmark for me.), the Rolling Stones, Blondie, Ella Fitzgerald, The Pretenders, Ian Dury, Dusty Springfield, Thin Lizzy, Eddie’n the Hot Rods, Von Morisson, Screaming Jay Hawking, Jimi Hendrix, B.B King, Howlin’wolf, Eric Clapton, Led Zepplin, Jeff Beck and the list goes on. It’s a group which evolves with amazing references which are the base of blues which is the base of rock… I very much like ‘High Temperature’; it makes me think of old albums by Eric Clapton or B.B King. I highly recommend ‘Photo finish’, it’s the best! James, the singer has a voice which makes me think of Eric Clapton’s voice in some ways. He’s got a dynamic and cool scenic presence. I’m definitely rock but I’m going to make an exception for them. I have to go to one of their gigs at the Dublin Castle when I’m next back in London in January. I can’t wait to listen to it live, something tells me I’ll more than appreciate the moment.
