Ginger Ale and The Monowhales

Aujourd’hui, nous partons direction Toronto pour découvrir l’univers pop, coloré et pétillant des Ginger Ale and the Monowhales. C’est un groupe que j’ai découvert sur Instagram, c’est fou comme il y a une multitude de groupes émergeants très intéressants et prometteurs sur ce réseau social. Je m’éloigne du sujet… donc revenons à nos moutons !

Laissez-moi vous présenter, Sally Shaar au chant, Jordan Circosta à la batterie et synthétiseur suivi de Zach Zanardo à la guitare mais aussi au synthé. Nous continuons avec Holly Jamieson exclusivement au synthé et pour finir Sare D’Alimonte à la basse. Les Monowhales sont connus pour leur présence scénique très originale. Ces trois dernières années, ils ont participés à divers festivals de musique à Toronto. Ils ont fait la première partie du groupe de garage-punk Fidlar (Why generation) mais aussi du duo de Brooklyn, Hank and the cupcakes et de In-Flight savety. Ils ont aussi été la tête d’affiche dans des endroits légendaires comme le « Lee’s Palace », « The Silver Dollar Room » et le « Rivoli ». La cerise sur le gâteau, ils ont joué à guichet fermé au « The Horseshoe Tavern » pour célébrer la sortie de leur single et vidéoclip « Looking simple ». L’évènement a été présenté par Exclaim’ magazine et Indie Week mais aussi soutenu par des rockers de Toronto. Actuellement, ils travaillent en studio pour compléter leur prochain E.P prévu au printemps 2016.

J’ai écouté différents morceaux tels que « Say what you want to say ! », « Blue Balls », « Looking simple » et je trouve qu’ils ont la même pêche que Paramore. Il y a quelque chose dans la technique musicale qui est vraiment proche. La voix de Sally m’a fait penser à celle de P.J Harvey, je ne saurais pas dire s’il s’agit du timbre de voix ou de la façon dont elle chante mais j’adore ! Je vous invite à faire un tour sur Bandcamp pour écouter ce qu’ils font car clairement, c’est excellent ! Encore une fois, je trouve sur Bandcamp des groupes réellement très talentueux et prometteur. N’hésitez pas, vous ne serez pas déçus de leur performance. Je vous le redis, leur E.P s’appelle HA ! , il est à écouter d’urgence.

Today, let’s go to Toronto to discover a pop, coloured and sparkling universe of the Ginger Ale and The Monowhales. It’s a band that I discover on Instagram, it’s crazy the multitude of emerging bands very talented and interesting, there is on this social network. I disgress from my subject… Back to our sheep !

Let me introduce you Sally Shaar on vocals, Jordan Circosta on drums and synthesizer follow by Zach Zanardo on guitar but also on synthe too. We continu with Holly Jamieson only on synthe and to finish Sare D’Alimonte on bass. Monowhales are known for their very original stage presence. These last three years, they are part of a lot of music festival in Toronto. They were the first of garage-punk band « Fidlar » but also the one of the Brooklyn duet « Hank & the Cupcakes » and « In-flight savety ». They were headline of legendary venues like « Lee’s Palace », « the Silver Dollar Room » and « the Rivoli ». The icing on the cake, they played sold-out in « the Horseshoe Tarvern » to celebrate the release of their single and videoclip « Looking simple ». The event was presented by Exclaim and Indie week but support too by some Toronto’s rockers.

Actually, they work in studio to complete their next E.P “HA!!” intended for Spring 2016. I listened different tracks like « Say, what you want to say », « Blue Balls », « Looking simple » and I think that they have punchy energy as Paramore’s. There’s something in the musical technic whinch is really close. Sally’s voice makes me think of the one of P.J Harvey, I can’t say if it’s in her voice or in the way she sings but I adore! I invite you to go on Bandcamp to listen what they do because it’s clearly excellent. This time again, I find on Bandcampsome very talented and promising bands. Don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed by their performance. I tell you it again, their E.P is called HA! and listen it without waiting !
